In French, as you’ll see, the are different according to the gender and the number…

The masculine singular pronouns are
Le mien   Le tien Le sien Le nôtre Le vôtre Le leur
The feminine singular pronouns are
La mienne La tienne La sienne La nôtre La vôtre La leur
The masculine plural pronouns are
Les miens Les tiens Les siens Les nôtres Les vôtres Les leurs
The feminine plural pronouns are
Les miennes Les tiennes Les siennes Les nôtres Les vôtres Les leurs

 

Here some examples to set matters straight:

–          Mes amis et les siens s’entendent bien My friends and his / hers get on well

–          Voilà mon idée, quelle est la tienne ?That’s my idea, what’s yours ?

–          Je ne parle pas de mon problème, mais du nôtre I’m not talking about my problem, but ours
